The achievement Demo Cooling Device Based on the Electrocaloric Effect was among the achievements ‘Excellent in Science 2019’ selected by Slovenian Research Agency. It is the result of collaboration of researchers from Electronic Ceramics Department (K5), Condensed Matter Physics Department, JSI, and Laboratory for Refrigeration and District Energy, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana (UL). The researchers were among the first in the world to realize a demo cooling device based on the electrocaloric effect. The invention has been patented in the EU, USA and China. The research was conducted in the frame of two national projects: Microelectromechanical and electrocaloric layer elements (L2-6768, PI: Prof. Barbara Malič, K5) and Advanced electrocaloric energy conversion (L7-7580, PI: Prof. Andrej Kitanovski, UL).
