The INNOHYPPY project, which was recognised as an M-ERA.NET programme Success Story, involved the Jožef Stefan Institute Electronic Ceramics Department (IJS K5), the Lithuanian Energy Institute from Lithuania and the Institute of Solid State Physics from Latvia. The project deepened our fundamental understanding of Fe/Ni-based materials and improved the prospects for their practical application in developing innovative catalysts for cleaner and more efficient hydrogen production via methane pyrolysis. The activities of IJS K5 in the project, led by Prof. Dr Danjela Kuščer, focused on exploring possibilities for the beneficial use of the carbon by-product. Carbon materials were screen printed onto a substrate, forming a thick-film working electrode of an electrochemical sensor. The electrode successfully detected an insecticide in water, demonstrating the potential for using the carbon by-product as a functional material with added value.
The recognition of the INNOHYPPY project as an M-ERA.NET Success Story confirms the significance of the results achieved, which combine materials development, clean hydrogen production and the sustainable use of by-products.
