Laboratory for the ultracool preparation of complex oxides – ULTRACOOL

TITLE: Laboratory for the ultracool preparation of complex oxides  – ULTRACOOL

PERIOD: 1. 4. 2017 until 31. 3. 2020

HEAD: Asst. Prof. Hana Uršič, Dr. Mojca Otoničar

FUNDED BY: Director´s fund 2017

The project entitled “Laboratory for the ultracool preparation of complex oxides”, ULTRACOOL in short, was chosen by the JSI Director’s Council as most prosperous and was granted financial support from the Director’s fund for 2017. The prize winners are Hana Uršič, Mojca Otoničar and Marko Vrabelj. The received financial resources are intended for constructing a new laboratory, equipped for preparation of materials at low temperatures (i.e., at or near room temperature). Two techniques that will enable complex functional materials’ processing at low temperatures and will be implemented and further developed are (1) Aerosol deposition and (2) Cold sintering process. These environmentally friendly and potentially cheap techniques to produce complex materials have lately gained considerable interest from the scientific communities and represent great potential for materials’ development.
